Born August 1, 1951 in Chesapeake, Virginia, Ricky Mack Rodwell was the son of Mable Cowell and Mack Rodwell. He lived a great life as the man he was destined to be by God's beautiful plan for him.
Ricky grew up with happiness and love in his heart. At a young age Ricky began to fall I love with automobiles, whether it was old and rusty or as shiny as a brand new 1977 Chevrolet Chevelle. Ricky knew that cars were going to be a part of him forever.
Fast forwarding to his adult life, Ricky began his career as a hardworking employee for his beloved City of Chesapeake, VA. Ricky's life grew even more significant with the birth of his beautiful daughter Talina.
After 32 substantial years of dedication to his career, Ricky received his very well deserved retirement in 2009. With loads of time on his hands, he decided to reunite with his love for cars. Whether it was for family members, a stranger or his beloved "Big Brownie", Ricky's hands would always be busy; and not to mention cutting grass for many people.
As the years progressed, Ricky continued to enjoy his life working on automobiles, watching westerns and eating at Good Old Golden Corral with his family. And although he is no longer physically with us, he is happy with our father Jesus Christ.
Ricky lived to see many priceless moments throughout his life, such as the growth of his wonderful family, the first black president and his favorite team Dallas Cowboys win 5 super bowls. His grand presence, warmth and joyous personality will be left embedded in many of our minds, our souls and our hearts; just as a brown-golden oak tree is embedded in the center of a graceful and calm spring meadow.
He leaves many to cherish his wonderful memories; his daughter and caregiver Talina Rodwell, two granddaughters Mahogany and London Duvall, his loving niece Donunika "Kiki" Davis, nephew Donucel Bailey, his wonderful sister Mable Davis, sister Gloria J. Totten; brothers Ronald and Leroy Rodwell and late but never forgotten brother Thomas Mann; special friend Stephanie Thomas and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing is Thursday, 4pm - 6pm at Fitchett Funeral Home. Funeral will be on Friday at 12 noon in the chapel of Fitchett Funeral Home, 1821 Liberty Street
Family will be receiving friends at Ricky's residence, 1921 Robert Hall Blvd. apt 8104, Chesapeake, Virginia.
