Joseph Milton McMiller departed this life on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. He was born on August 3, 1952 to the late Horace Milton Duke and late Marguerite Epps in Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony McMiller, Victor McMiller, Charles Epps and fiance’ Willie Mae Holmes.
Joseph was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and went on to enlist in the Marine Corps in 1972 and earned a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged and successfully transitioned to civilian life where he was employed as a federal employee who worked on the Naval Base for over 40 years, retiring in 2013.
He leaves to cherish his memory caring sisters, Renee Stephenson (Wendell) and Pamela Arnold; loving brothers John Epps, Jr and Lamon Tatum. Mr. McMiller also leaves behind three cherished daughters, a dutiful daughter of his late fiance’ and gracious “son”: Stephanie McMiller Johnson (Kenneth), Tiffany Norris (Steve), JoAnna Williams, Dorothy Cannon (Richard) and George Williams. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joseph was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also a boisterous, spirited Green Bay Packers fan. His family will miss him greatly, especially his many, many calls reminding us how much he loved us.
