Cecelia LaVerne Payne

Cecelia LaVerne Payne passed away early Monday morning in her home surrounded by her loving family. Cecelia was born on June 21, 1935 in Miami, Florida.

Cecelia's jobs included Community Hospital, William T. Hall Nursing Home and she retired from City of Portsmouth. Cecelia was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church in Norfolk. Her hobbies were spending time with family.  

On May 8, 1954, she married Elkay Payne and from this union they were blessed with 7 children; Karey Ore, Constance Hayes, Toni Ferguson (Darcell), Joni Payne, Elkay Payne (deceased), Eric Payne (Ingrid), Kathy Payne, 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her funeral services will take place on Monday February 17th, 12:00 noon at Grace Episcopal Church located 1400 E. Brambleton Ave. Norfolk, Virginia.

A public viewing for Mrs. Payne will take place on Sunday, February 16th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home located 1821 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, Virginia.
