Alexis Berro Obituary

Alexis R. Berro was suddenly taken from us on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Alexis was born on July 15, 1999 in Norfolk, Virginia to Jose Berro and Anita Maria McCoy. Alexis was a beautiful, young woman with her whole life ahead of her.

Alexis attended Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia and though she did not graduate, she obtained a vast array of knowledge through reading; talking to people, asking questions and doing research herself. She loved music and one of her favorite songs was Tomorrow by Tevin Campbell. More recently, she had begun going to a studio and trying to dabble in singing, which was a passion of hers too. Alexis held various fast food jobs, but she clearly wasn't in the job market for very long. Although Alexis endured many trials in her life, it is obvious how loved she really was.

On several occasions, Alexis attended St. James Pentecostal Church in Currie, NC, where District Elder Williams is the pastor. She always thought of it as our family church and she really enjoyed attending whenever she could. Her belief in God never swayed and at times when she thought no one was listening or paying attention, she would be talking to God asking him to show her the way.

Alexis was a very dedicated, loyal, dependable, loving and giving person. She always wanted the best for all of her family and friends and would often go out of her way to help them. For a long time, Alexis was unsure about her purpose for her life, however she had just begun the journey of finding her way.

She was predeceased by her grandfather, Donald Harris and grandmother, Fructousa Berro.

Left to cherish her memories are: her loving mom Anita McCoy (Demetrius Larry); father Jose Berro (Nyoka); three brothers – Antonio McCoy of Virginia Beach, VA; Tre'Sean, and Ja'Vontae Berro both from Newport News, VA; seven sisters – Mia Berro, Ja'Niyah Berro, Ayanna Larry, Ny'Zha Berro, Trinity Berro, Miracle Berro and Kharizma Berro from Newport News, VA; three aunts – Marrieta (Arnido); Alta (Eddie) and Nieysha Gross (Marlow Malone); Grandmother Deborah Harris, one nephew, two nieces, two great nephews and many cousins, loved ones, and friends.
