PVT Edward Haliday died peacefully in his home on May 4, 2017. Edward was born on October 4, 1950 in Halifax, North Carolina to the late Frank Haliday Jr. and Lillie B. Haliday.
Edward attended Norfolk Public Schools and in 1969, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a brave and loyal Marine who was a veteran of the Vietnam War and awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry with palm and frame. Edward was honorably discharged July 24, 1970.
After serving his country, he worked as a truck driver with North America and Mayflower.
Edward is predeceased by his parents, Frank Haliday, Jr. and Lillie B. Haliday; and his brother, Larry Haliday.
He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Earl Haliday Sr. of Newport News, Virginia and Lenwood Haliday Sr. of Norfolk, Virginia; sister, Linda Luckey of Norfolk, Virginia; aunt, Hattie Mae Saums of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends.
Edward was loved by many and will be missed dearly!

Mr. Haliday will lie in state Thursday, May 11 from 3 pm to 6 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
Homegoing Service will be Friday, May 12 at 12 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
