On Monday March 22nd, Ruby received her wings and joined her heavenly father, her mission here was complete. She goes on to join her loving husband Everett Phillips Jr, who preceded her in death.
Ruby was born and raised in Norfolk Virginia, and attended Granby High School. Upon graduating she proudly served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps. She retired from Little Creek Amphibious Base as a purchasing agent at the age of 75. She was a published author “Inspirations from the Heart, “and wanted to share her love of Christ through her work. You could always count on her to share a poem, quote from the Bible, or her good, better, best aphorism. Her indomitable spirit encouraged her family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. Ruby’s love for family and friends was evident in not only word, but the many deeds done for others. She was a proud mother of 8 children, 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
The legacy of Ruby’s kind spirit, passion for the Lord, writing and reciting poetry, sense of humor, and zest for life will live on through her children and grandchildren. The family chooses to remember Ruby in a way that honors her spirit. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Carmen (Calvin) Mills GA, Everett (Jennifer) Phillips III VA, Edward (Sharon) Phillips VA, Andre’ (LaShawn) Phillips VA, Andrea Whiteside GA, Jonathan (Donna) Phillips VA, Jessica (John F) Franklin VA, Carlos Phillips VA, and a host of loved ones.
