Reverend Burton David Katzelnik, 87, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Friday, April 15, 2022.
He was born in Bronx, NY on September 2, 1934 to the late Samuel and Sophie Katzelnik. For the last 50 years, he dedicated his whole life to the works of the Lord. He started the first Spanish-speaking Christian radio station in Puerto Rico, called Radio Redentor. He and his family produced a Spanish Christian album, “Ecos Celestiales”. In 1983, he moved to Virginia Beach, VA and worked along side Pat Robertson at CBN. In 1990, he and his late wife, Pilar Katzelnik, started the first Hispanic Assembly of God church in the Tidewater area, Centro Evangelistico Hispano, and served faithfully as lead pastor there for 19 years. Burton Katzelnik did many great things, but nothing made him more proud than his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Burton is preceded by his beloved wife of 59 years, Pilar Katzelnik, his older sister,Belle Feldman, and his precious grandchild, Gary “Garito” Katzelnik.
Left to cherish his memory is his dedicated wife of 7 years, Trini Katzelnik; son, Gary Katzelnik and his wife Claudia Katzelnik; daughters, Robin Coloń and her husband Victor Coloń, Abby Lee and her husband Benjamin Lee; nine grandchildren, Melissa Clay and her husband Robert Clay, Bryan Katzelnik and his wife Brooke Katzelnik, Jacob Katzelnik, Daniel Katzelnik, Calvin Katzelnik, Sophia Morrow, Jonathan Coloń, Amanda Feazelle and her husband Donny Feazelle, Andrea Lee and her husband David Adams; and 9 great grandchildren, Landon, Savanna, Bella, Bentley, Jacob, Luna-Maya, Israel, Elijah and Zachary.
The family invites friends and family Tuesday, April 19, 2022 to Coast City Assembly of God, 2751 Salem Road, Virginia Beach, VA, 23456 for a public viewing 5-6 p.m. and his Celebration of Life service 6-7:30 p.m. Reception to follow.
