Ricky was born on November 14, 1953 in Norfolk, VA to the late James Driver and Willie Beatrice Driver. He gained his wings on September 13, 2019.
He was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and continued his education by enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably as a "No Nonsense" Military Police with a gentle heart.; a career where he was well respected and which spanned almost a decade. Once leaving the Army, Ricky pursued a career as a contractor/painter that would span over three decades. He took pride in his work and was sought after by many.
Ricky was known for his gentle, loving spirit. everyone that he came in contact with instantly liked him. He would give you the shirt off of his back and always greeted you with a smile. He was a comical storyteller. When he shared one of his tall tale adventures, he would always have you laughing so hard that you could hardly contain yourself. A true Gentle Giant.
Ricky was married to Louise Leary of Norfolk, VA and from this union 2 children were born. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his children and his grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored. He was preceded in death by his father James H. Driver, his mother, Willie Beatrice Driver-Kirby and his beloved step father, Matthew Kirby.
He leaves behind to cherish hi memories; his daughter LeTarshia Heman-Ackah (Samuel), son Brent Driver; five grandchildren; Darnell Driver, Nadia Driver, Devan Driver, Samuel Heman-Ackah Jr. Miles Heman-Ackah; Siblings, Minnie Beverly (Jessie), Delores Kirby, Beverly Lipscomb, Annette Martin, Michael Driver and Shirley Driver-Kinchen (Alonzo); 14 nieces, 7 nephews, and a host of great nieces/nephews, loved ones and friends.
