After a long battle with Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) Creola entered eternal rest on 4/24/2022.
Creola Fannings was born 4/5/1962 in Key West Florida to Louis Coward and Laura Powell who preceded her in death. Creola was one of 10 children. Creola was a great mother to 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
Creola was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, mentor and a friend to many. Creola was marveled for her athleticism, creativity and charisma. Creola spent the majority of her life in Virginia where she pursued the Human Services field. Creola was a United States Army Veteran and also a body builder who was known for her vibrant personality that stuck out. Creola was also recognized for her love for animals and her mesmerizing voice while singing Karaoke.
Creola is survived by Laura and Willie Powell and (biological father) Louise Coward...Preceded by two siblings James A Williams and Terry Robinson Surviving siblings…Larry Robinson (Virginia), Cynthia Adams,Helen Thomas (James), Jonathan Coward (Stacy ), LaQuanda Green (Jason), LaQueta Powell, Eugene Montario.
One handsome son Lyndell Whitaker, Four beautiful daughters Kishawn Miller, LaQuanda Caise (James), Quiana Clark (Calvin), Chenzirah Fannings.
11 Grandchildren Destiny Valery, AA’sye’ya Whitaker, Divine Whitaker, Danaijah Miller, Jahmere Phillips, Trevon, Kristian Bratten, Keon Bratten, Khy Caise, Chance Clark, Remi Wiggins-Fannings; 2 GreatGrandChildren Zoe Stanbury and Kiya Jones; A host of neice’s, nephew’s, cousin’s, and friend’s.
Creola touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life and will be remembered for her unconditional love, spunk and unique sense of humor. She was truly one of a kind. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
No funeral or viewing is planned at this time; however a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
