Willie Lee Spady Jr.

Willie Lee Spady Jr. entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 12, 2017.

He was born to the late Willie Lee Spady Sr. and Rosie Mae Spady in Cape Charles, Virginia on July 20, 1933.

After serving his country in the United States Army, Willie started a career with BFI Waste Management, where he would eventually retire from. Soon after retirement, he began helping and working with funeral homes in the area.

Willie loved people and had a great reputation for being hilarious. He loved to joke and could make anyone laugh while in his presence. He will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his loving parents; his wife of over 20 years, Marie Spady; his only son, Willie Lee Spady III; and three stepchildren, Ernestine Jones, Annie White, and John Spellman.

He leaves to cherish his memory two stepdaughters, Diane Lindsey (Larry) and Cellette Day; one stepson, James Brown (Debbie) of Durham, North Carolina; one sister, Callie Spady of New York; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends, and loved ones.

A wake service will be held on Wednesday, June 14 from 6-8 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 12 pm at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran's Cemetery - 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
