Mrs. Trudy Freeman Collins is the daughter of the late Russell Freeman and Lillie Maxwell-Freeman. To this union four children were born. After the death of Lillie, Russell married Missie Ray and from that union four children were born. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters, Narcissie Bell, Dannie McNeil, Lillie McNeil and brothers Robert Freeman (Rob), William Freeman (Bill) and Nathaniel Freeman. (Bobby).
Mrs. Trudy Collins was the wife of the late James E. Collins. They cherished their three children, James C. Collins, Charlie A. Collins (Marie) and Renee' Collins-Perry (Kenneth).
In the earlier years The Collins Family were faithful church members at Monticello Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia where Trudy Collins was the church secretary/treasurer and sang in the choir..
Shortly after moving her residence to Chesapeake, Trudy became a dedicated member at First Baptist Church, West Munden. Under the ministry of Pastor J.L. Ashby, she joined the Usher Board. She faithfully continued her service under Pastor Rosalind Moats until her illness took over.
She was a caregiver, loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a good friend. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her church and her pastors.
Trudy is also survived by one brother, Russell Freeman Jr. and two sisters Eloise Edwards and Louise Brothers, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
You are invited to attend the viewing for Mrs. Trudy Collins at Fitchett Funeral Home on Thursday, 4pm - 7pm.
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church, West Munden on Friday at 1:00pm. The church is located, 1541 Lyons Ave. Chesapeake.
