Patricia Ann Thomas

Patricia Ann Bennett Ringer Thomas (Pat), a native New Orleanean is the daughter of the late Alvin London Bennett and Xcell Patrick Prevost Bennett. Patricia departed this life peacefully at the age of 66 on Saturday, July 1, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Patricia was baptized at St. Raymond Catholic Church at an early age, yet later changed her religion when she joined New Creation Baptist Church in New Orleans. In 1995, after making the move to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pat joined Greater King David Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until moving to Chesapeake, Virginia in 2016.

Pat had an abundant life and was loved by so many. She was educated at St. Raymond Catholic School, Phillip Jr. High School, Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School, Southern University, and Loyola University of New Orleans. She worked at Blue Cross Insurance Company and Children's Hospital in New Orleans. She also worked at Women's Hospital and H&R Block in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Pat also maintained such precious friendships throughout the years with Pamela Williams, Jannie Hamilton, Brenda Miller, Dynetta Woods, Vicki McCarty, and Karen Brown; just to name a few.

Pat was the devoted mother of twin boys, Sirdon P. Ringer (Crystal) and Sirron N. Ringer (Naesha) and a step-daughter, Felisha Thomas. She was also the proud grandmother of LiNaja, Sirron, Jr., Sirdon, Jr., Sir'riyah. Samir, and Sir'Mirah Ringer and Ndea Thomas.

Pat was preceded in death by her second husband, Edward Thomas, maternal grandmother, Lillian H. Prevost, and paternal grandmothers, Ella Bennett.

Pat leaves to cherish so many memories, her children and grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda B. Batiste and Lionel P. Batiste, Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana; her devoted niece and nephew, Anjel N. Batiste and Shawn P. Batiste, both of New Orleans, Louisiana; her ex-husband, Carlos Ringer; her best friend, Cheryl Batiste Conner; her godchildren, Shannon Braud, Tracey Reeves, and Dashawn Batiste; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ms. Thomas will lie in state on Wednesday, July 12 from 4-6 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

Homegoing Service will be Thursday, July 13 at 11 am at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
