James "Jay" Lawrence

James Alexander Lawrence, better known as "Jay" to his family and friends, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017. Prior to his death and during his brief illness, he was surrounded by his family and friends who loved him dearly. Jay was born and raised in Chesapeake, better known at the time as Norfolk County. Jay loved hanging out with his friends and his Jays friends loved hanging out with him. He will be sorely missed by his family, his friends and the community

James "Jay" Lawrence was predeceased in death by his parents Percy and Marie Lawrence. He leaves to cherish his memory,  a daughter Portia Monique Brown, a son Antio L. Wilson; 3 brothers, Percy Lawrence Jr., Brad Lawrence (Shevel), and Galvin Lawrence (Shirley);  also a very special friend Dorothy Brown, his grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

A very special thanks to Aunt Marie RIddick and Uncle Randolph Lawrence for being there for "Jay" in a huge way. The family could not have made these arrangements without you.

There will be a Wake/ "Family Hour" at "The Original"  Fitchett Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2017 beginning at 2pm. The family would like for his family and friends to come out and help celebrate the life of their brother, a father, a grandfather, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend James "Jay"  Alexander Lawrence. Refreshments will be served.
