Fred passed away on New Year’s Day just as the Lord God had in His plans. Frederick Douglas Harvey affectionately called Doodie was born on June 24, 1928 and grew up with two brothers: Edward (Buster) Harvey Jr. (predeceased) and Chrispus (Teenie Wee) Harvey and four sisters: Lois (Hilda) Harvey Sivels (predeceased), Vivian (Duck) Harvey Parham (predeceased).
Fred was born to the late Edward and LoMie Harvey. He was educated through the Norfolk County School System. He served his country in two branches of the Armed Forces; the Army and Air Force. Fred was of the Catholic faith. He loved spending time with the church every Thursday for prayer time.
Fred leaves to cherish his memories; two sisters, Elizabeth Harvey Banks of Lanham, Maryland and Shirley Harvey Stokes of Norfolk; three daughters, Janet Harvey, Diana Pearce, and Pamela Rodgers (Wilmo) of Norfolk; three sons, Frederick Jr. (Shirley), Jonathan (Analyn) and Vernon Harvey; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Uncle Doodie was a fun-loving, quiet guy who loved the ladies. He loved and was proud to play chess with his son. Rest on Uncle, Brother, Cousin, Father…take your heavenly rest! We will miss you!
Mr. Harvey will lie in state on Monday, January 9 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
Homegoing Service will be Tuesday, January 10 at 11 am at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
