Evelyn W Flemmings

Evelyn Joyce Watford Flemmings was born on June 17, 1932 in the, then, rural Oakwood section of Norfolk, Virginia.

She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, then Norfolk State University. 

Her work career included working at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a key punch operator and years of being a licensed life insurance agent. Then she began her career as an educator. She taught in the Norfolk Public School System for many years. She took pride in her students and shaping their futures. After retirement from teaching, she worked with the Upward Bound program at NSU as a reading specialist.

After being truly retired, she enjoyed sitting in her favorite chair watching her favorite spiritual programs on TV. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and family. She was always there for her children and for others whose lives she touched and shared. She was always full of life and had a sense of humor. You would not believe how militant her political views were and she was active in many political campaigns She had been told that she was an older version of Angela Davis. 

I will always remember that she was full of energy and life until she so peacefully departed from us here on earth. She fought a good fight until God called her home.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise E. Watford; her father, William T. Watford; two sisters, Barbara L. Fuller, Maxine A. Jackson; two children, Steven J. Ziglar & Daniel J. Ziglar III.

She leaves to cherish her memories. One daughter Sharon J. Johnson (James); Two sons Michael J. Ziglar, Gregory J. Ziglar; One sister Sandra B. Brehon (Joseph); one brother William T. Watford, Jr.; 3 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, loved ones and friends.
