Brenda Moye

Brenda James Moye took leave of this earth to be with Jesus Saturday, August 20. She was born in Norfolk, VA on October 27, 1958 to Jessie and Maxine James.  Brenda grew up in Crestwood Manor, attended Indian River High School, and continued her studies at ECPI and TCC.  She remained connected to her home community, and served as a counselor with Mothers Inc. working with abused mothers and their children.  Later Brenda was employed by the City of Chesapeake’s Water Division, from which she retired at an early age.

After becoming connected with Serve The City and Community Church of Chesapeake, Brenda became very active in displaying her faith in Christ.  She helped coordinate projects and volunteers for STC in her own community and was a faithful part of the Women’s Ministry at CCC.  Her last few years of life were spent living in the mountains of Pocahontas, VA where she continued to bless and encourage her neighbors.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Johnnie Ray Moye.  Brenda is survived by her sons Jerome Kanada (Deborah) and Damien Boyce; grandson Jaiden Kanada; brother John James, aunt Barbara Boucher; and a host of other relatives and close family friends. 

Memorial Service will be Thursday, August 25 at 4 pm at Community Church of Chesapeake - 253 St. Lukes Church Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320.
