Willard Stewart Jr.

Willard C. Stewart Jr. (affectionately known as Jr.) was born in Norfolk, VA on December 31, 1968. He departed to his new home on March 23, 2017 at the age of 48.

He is survived by his parents Willard and Shirley Stewart, his sister Renee’ Stewart, his niece Ashlee Stewart (Philmore Epps), his children Shanicqua Tomlinson, La’nae Skyles, Desha Stewart, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Jr. was a lifetime resident of Chesapeake and attended Indian River High School. Jr. was a truck driver for many years and he also worked as an auto mechanic.

Jr was an avid fisher at heart. He enjoyed the peacefulness of nature. Jr. was a “heart” person who put the welfare of others before himself. He loved his family dearly and talked about his children often. He was recently awarded an opportunity to pursue his goal of becoming a marine mechanic.

He loved God. He knew that God had a call on his life and he was determined to complete his assignment. We may never understand the uniqueness of his assignment but he finished well. He leaves a rich legacy of faith, strength, endurance, dignity, love, and honor. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Mr. Stewart will lie in state on Friday, March 31 from 9 am to 11 am at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

Homegoing Service will be Friday, March 31 at 11 am at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
