Tanya Yvonne (Foster) Edmonds

On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, a heavenly summons was issued for our dear wife, sister and friend, Tanya Yvonne Foster Edmonds. She departed this life at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center with a chronic illness.

She was born in Chesapeake, Virginia on July 13, 1971 as the daughter of the late Albert Foster Sr. and the later Eulalia Foster. She was united in holy matrimony to her loving and caregiving husband, John Lee Edmonds on April 11, 2011, where they resided in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Foster Washington and one brother, Cedric Foster.

In 1988, she graduated from Oscar F. Smith High School. Her career started in the medical field as a CNA for various local hospitals which included Sentara Norfolk Healthcare and Chesapeake General Hospital. Over the years, she took on roles as a caregiver to various clients and worked in retail stores. She became disabled and was a homebody during the latter years of her life.

In her early childhood, she was a baptized member of the New Mount Zion Church of God Holiness in Norfolk, Virginia. Later in her life, she became an active member of her new church family at St. Lukes AME Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. Tanya was a fun person. Laughing and making others laugh was her life's passion. She was focused on living life to the fullest. She is best known for being free spirited and giving.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband; John Lee Edmonds, three sisters; Angelia Foster, Sherrie Withrow (Andre), and Dorinda Thomas (Morgan), two brothers; Albert Foster Jr. (Colleen) and Breon Foster, her wonderful in-laws; The Edmond Family, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. -Romans 8:28

Mrs. Edmonds will lie in state Saturday, December 10 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

Homegoing Service will be Sunday, December 11 at 2 pm at St. Lukes AME Church - 241 St. Lukes Church Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320.
