Rosa Lean Arrington

Rosa Lean Arrington, known to some as Leannie or Lena, the third child born to the late Johnnie Boyd and Elma Mitchell Arrington on December 23, 1934.

On April 22, 2017, Rosa departed her duties here on Earth to go home to be with the Lord. She received her education from the  Nash County Public Schools.

Rosa was united in holy matrimony to the late Perry Arrington. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Social Union Baptist Church, Nash County, NC. Rosa later made her home in Baltimore, Maryland.

Upon retiring from General Electric, Rosa became a crossing guard for the school system of Maryland. She joined Mount Hebron Baptist Church and served on the Women’s Ministry, The Progressive Society, Hospitality Committee, and sang in the Gospel Choir. Rosa eventually moved to Norfolk, Virginia to be near her two remaining siblings.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Tempie L. Arrington and Mary M. Debroux; two brothers, Charlie L. Arrington and William H. Dancy.

She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Christine Blakey (Clarence) of Norfolk, Virginia; one brother, Johnnie Arrington (Antionette) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one aunt, Gladys Battle of Nash County, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Irene Skinner and “Jodie” Rose Anderson; two brothers-in-law, Joe and John Arrington of Baltimore, Maryland; and a hose of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ms. Arrington will lie in state on Friday, April 28 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

Homegoing Service will be Saturday, April 29 at 11 am at First Baptist Church, Lambert's Point - 1268 W. 38th Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23508.
