George D. Blount Jr.April 7, 1942 ~ July 27, 2017 (age 75)
On July 27, 2017, George D. Blount Jr. quietly slipped away into eternity. He was born on April 7, 1942 to the late George D. Blount Sr. and Ellian Blount.
He gave himself to the Lord at an early age and continued to live a life knowing all his strength and help cometh from the Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ. He had a favorite song he would always sing, “You got to kiss an angel good morning.”
He met and united in marriage to Luvertta Felton (Bell) and from this union, seven children were born. He only had a 9th grade education but started working at an early age as a farmer/laborer with Frank T. Williams Farms in Virginia Beach, Virginia for many years. After his retirement from work, he then reunited with his first wife and companion, Luvertta Felton (Bell) until his health began to fail.
He was preceded in death by his wife Queenie Blount, his daughter Tanita Blount, three sisters Star Blount, Mary Blount (Mercer), Mamie Blount (Smith), two brothers Jerry Blount and Lemanuel Blount, and his grandson Lugene Blount.
He leaves to cherish his memory his companion Luvertta Felton (Bell), his children; P.J. Blount, William Blount, Sammy Blount, Norman Blount, Jeannette Blount, George Blount III, Annette Blount (Clark), and Curtis Blount, his daughter-in-law Irma Blount, brother-in-law Ellis Blount, sister-in-law Ann Blount, 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Blount will lie in state Thursday, August 3 from 3 pm to 5 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
Homegoing Service will be Friday, August 4 at 12 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.
