Christine Deloatche

On Wednesday, December 12, 2017, Christine Deloatche completed her earthly Journey, The Lord God did call her home to rest. Christine Deloatche {aka} “Big-Mama” was born March 12, 1958 in Norfolk, Virginia to Bennie & Melzinia Mathis also of Norfolk Virginia. She attended Lake Taylor High School.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers before her who died at birth. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband Bobby C. Deloatche, a brother Eugene Baron; a loving and devoted daughter  Maria K. Stepney (Everett), Three Grandchildren Keisha M. Matthew, Lasha S. Matthew, and Shamyia Knight, along with four Great-grands Kyla Matthews, Heaven Scott, Angelo Brown, Kayden Matthew; and two Nephews Terry (Angelo) Wendell, and Troy, One Niece Avis (Robert) and A special friend “Avery Burnham!”

Christine Deloatche and her family were also Hurricane Katrina victims who later relocated back to Norfolk Virginia and then to Virginia Beach, Virginia. She and her family were well known within the community where she lived. Christine aka “BIG MAMA” Deloache was well respected within her community. Her unique character earned her the name ‘BIG-MAMA” ; she would conversate with the young and the old, and "you better not rub her the wrong way", because she didn’t hold back her thoughts, and kept it real as to her response! Lol !!

Family was always first with Christine aka BIG-MAMA, and for a while it was just her and her girls until Angelo Brown and baby Kayden Matthew were born. She will be greatly missed!

Public viewing for her will be on Tuesday December 19th from 12noon to 6:00 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 20th in the chapel of Fitchett Funeral Home.
