Annie Conwell

Annie Conwell peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at home with her family surrounding her. Annie was born May 15, 1921 and was the youngest child born to the late John & Ella Freeman.

She was a faithful member of First Gospel Tabernacle, Chesapeake, Virginia for over 60 years.  She worked alongside Pastor Margaret Fauntleroy and served as the president of the Missionary board. She was a proud member of the women’s choir, usher board, and contributed her creative ideas, such as decorating a “sitting room” in the back of the church.

She will be greatly missed by her children Mildred Coleman (Michael Coleman), John Conwell, Ann Wilson, Ella Brown (Anthony Brown) Phillip Conwell (predeceased), Denise Conwell, Charlotte Walker; also a host of  nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In Loving Memory of Isaac Conwell (husband), Phillip Conwell (Son), Blanche Wilson (sister), West Freeman (brother), Leroy Wilson (brother-in-law), Billie Wilson (nephew), Rod Felton (grandson).  She also joined all the “little angels” of the family.

She was known for praising God at all times, and she was truly a warrior for Christ.  She fought the good fight of faith and now she will receive her great reward in Heaven. 

Ms. Conwell will lie in state Thursday, April 7 from 10 am to 6 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

Homegoing Services will be held Friday, April 8 at 11 am at First Gospel Tabernacle - 1825 Cullen Avenue, Chesapeake, Virginia 23324.
