Adell Bellamy Gorham

Ms. Adell Gorham peacefully transitioned into eternal rest at home on Saturday, January 23, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Adell was born October 12, 1924 in Tarboro, North Carolina to the late Step and Lossie Bellamy. She attended Tarboro Public Schools.

Shortly after being united in holy matrimony to James Arthur Gorham, Adell and her husband moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. She was a devoted homemaker and loved to take care of her family. She eventually joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful and devoted member until her health begin to fail.

She was predeceased by her loving husband James Arthur Gorham and four sisters, Liz Bellamy, Maude Draughn, Betty Frances, and Uzelle Bellamy Harrell.

Left to cherish her memories: Six Children - Octavious Bellamy (Brenda) of Norfolk, VA, Leo Gorham(Jeanetta) of High Point, NC, Doris Hampton (Timothy) of Chesapeake, VA, James Gorham, Jr of Chesapeake, VA, William Gorham of VA Beach, VA, Robert Lee Gorham (Kathy) of Chesapeake, VA ; Ten Grandchildren - Octavious Bellamy Jr. and Yovonda Bellamy both of Norfolk, VA, Leo Gorham Jr. of Siler City, NC, LeVon Gorham, Albanie Gorham both of High Point, NC, Angel Gorham and William Gorham Jr. both of Chesapeake, VA, Mark Gorham of Norfolk, VA, Jasmine Gorham and Jason Collins both of Ohio, Seven Great-Grandchildren, two sisters - Ethel Mae Bellamy and Mattie Bellamy both of Tarboro, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.

Ms. Gorham will lie in state Friday, January 29 from 10 am to 6 pm at Fitchett Funeral Home, Liberty Street.

Homegoing Services will be held Saturday, January 30 at 12 pm at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church - 525 Dinwiddie Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23523.
